In a broadcast on Antena 3 CNN, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan explained the necessity of reducing exemptions from paying CASS, mentioning that there is an imbalance between the number of those who contribute to the healthcare system and those who benefit from services. He emphasized that Romania has one of the longest maternity leaves in Europe, lasting two years, and that the child-rearing allowance is 75% of the salary, compared to other European countries where it is below 65%. Bolojan acknowledged that these measures may seem unpopular, but he stressed the importance of finding sustainable financial solutions, warning that borrowing cannot continue indefinitely, as it could lead to an economic blockage.
