An IG Metall report highlights the growing concerns among car manufacturers in Germany, where 31% of respondents are worried about their professional future. The situation is similar in companies supplying the steel industry, with 41% of employees expressing concerns. In contrast, in sectors such as specialized vehicle production and crafts, the level of confidence is higher, with 71% and 63% respectively believing in the stability of jobs. Almost half of the labor councils do not anticipate short-term economic improvements, and 47% consider the economic outlook to be poor.
Additionally, 20% of companies are discussing relocating production to the United States due to high energy costs. Unions and employees signal a lack of a clear strategy from employers, with fewer than 45% of companies having a concrete plan for the future. This stagnation of economic recovery is concerning, especially in the context of high energy prices affecting core industries.
