Marius Nistor, the leader of the Federation of Trade Unions in Education 'Spiru Haret', stated that after the rally on October 29, a national referendum for a general strike in education will be triggered, accusing the measures in Law 141 of severely affecting the educational system in Romania. The protest, organized by several trade union confederations, targets the social and economic issues faced by employees in the education sector, including the austerity measures that affect all professional categories.
Nistor emphasized that the protests will continue until the repeal of Law 141 and the resignation of Minister Daniel David, highlighting the mobilization on September 8, when over 30,000 education employees took to the streets. Trade unionists believe that the reforms introduced by this law directly affect working conditions and the educational act, without prior consultation with the unions.
