The Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) conducted the Previsio project between June 2024 and June 2026, aimed at training teachers, inspectors, and school counselors to identify students with potential for radicalization. An investigation by Snoop revealed a lack of transparency and contradictory information surrounding this project, which primarily benefited from European funds, with a total value of nearly 5 million lei.
Although SRI announced the training of 1,500 individuals, including nearly 1,200 teachers, the responses from school inspectorates varied, with some mentioning collaboration with SRI, while others were vague. The public does not have access to the course content, and teachers did not inform parents and students about their participation.
Snoop reports that it encountered difficulties in obtaining information about the participating teachers, and the Ministry of Education avoided providing details.
Several teachers who spoke with Snoop detailed that most of the data presented to teachers focused on Islamist terrorism and attacks by groups such as Al-Qaeda and Daesh, and much less, only briefly, on legionnaires and neo-Nazis.
The project continues with a second phase, Previsio 2, expanding to representatives of the penitentiary system. The European Commission did not provide details about other similar projects, leaving the responsibility for selecting beneficiaries to national authorities.
