The Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) has issued a warning to citizens regarding the increase in fraudulent calls in which attackers use caller ID spoofing techniques.
These calls can display the institution's number on the phone screen, misleading the called parties. During these calls, personal data, banking information, passwords, or money transfers are requested. SRI emphasizes that it never requests such information over the phone. Citizens are advised not to provide information and to hang up if they have suspicions.
The recommended security protocol includes hanging up the call and manually redialing the number from official sources to avoid contact with the attackers. SRI thanks citizens for their vigilance and cooperation.
