Vlad Oprea, the mayor of Sinaia, will remain in custody for another 30 days, after the Bucharest Tribunal accepted DNA's request to replace judicial control with arrest. Oprea is accused of taking bribes and abuse of office on suspicion of soliciting almost €240,000 to facilitate the obtaining of the necessary documentation to build a hotel. The mayor disputes the charges, claiming they are speculation and part of a negative campaign against him.
