Romsilva estimates that it will make approximately 2 million cubic metres of wood available to the public for home heating in 2026, a volume similar to that offered in recent years. The average sale price is estimated at around 280 lei per cubic metre, at the 2025 level.
In the first nine months of the year, the National Forest Administration sold 1.24 million cubic metres of firewood directly to the public. Currently, Romsilva units have stocks of approximately 400,000 cubic metres, which will be replenished as harvesting operations are carried out.
Prices vary depending on the species, assortment and delivery conditions. Wood sold at the harvesting site costs, on average, between 200 and 450 lei per cubic metre, while palletised wood delivered from storage facilities can cost up to 700 lei per pallet.
Buyers can contact the forestry districts in their area of residence or consult the offer on the Romsilva website and in the online store romsilva.store. Some units provide transport, cutting into sections and splitting services for a fee. The administration recommends requesting the accompanying document and the invoice or fiscal receipt to verify the wood’s legal origin. Romsilva is legally required to ensure at least 1 million cubic metres of firewood and roundwood intended for heating every year.
