Marian Neacșu, PSD leader and former deputy prime minister in the Bolojan Government, stated that, if the PSD becomes part of the new Executive, it could be a “mixed government.” The party is set to decide today, at 4:00 p.m., at the meeting of the National Political Council held at Vila Lac, whether to support Luca Niculescu for the position of prime minister.
“I believe it will be a mixed government, if that is to be the case,” Neacșu said.
He also added that he might consider taking over the Ministry of Internal Affairs in a potential government led by Luca Niculescu to be “an honorable approach.” However, Neacșu did not confirm that he would accept the position, noting that the decision depends on the governing program and the PSD’s decision regarding joining the government.
Asked by journalists in Parliament whether he could become interior minister, Neacșu said that numerous names are being discussed during this period. He was included for the same position in the government proposal put forward by liberal-conservative Adrian Veștea.
PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu presented three scenarios: not participating in government, supporting a technocratic government, or forming a political government, including together with other parties. Niculescu is due to submit the list of ministers and the governing program to Parliament on Thursday.
