Designated Prime Minister Luca Niculescu said Thursday, after negotiations with the PSD, that it was too early to say what the government would look like, whether it would be technocratic or political, but stressed that it would be “competent”.
“The president left a wide range of options, from a technocratic government to a political government to a hybrid government. But it is too early for me to say now,” Luca Niculescu pointed out.
Asked whether Alexandru Nazare could be part of the future Government, he stressed that no decision had been made regarding the composition of the Cabinet. Niculescu said that political negotiations were still underway and that it was not even clear what form the future Executive would take.
The designated Prime Minister said that the Government could be technocratic, predominantly political, or could include representatives of the parties supporting it. Depending on the formula chosen, the mechanism for selecting ministers would also be established.
Regarding Alexandru Nazare, Niculescu said that he was a competent minister, with experience and a person respected internationally. He mentioned Nazare’s cooperation with representatives of the National Bank, as well as his participation in discussions with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
Niculescu said that, if the future Government had a majority or political representation, it would have to take into account the proposals of the parties supporting it. However, the designated Prime Minister avoided confirming that Nazare would remain in office, considering the discussion premature.
