Prime Minister-designate Luca Niculescu announced on Tuesday, after the consultations with the parliamentary parties concluded, that all options for the future Government remain possible. He is considering a political cabinet, a hybrid one made up of political ministers and technocrats, or a technocratic Government.
The statement was made at the end of the three days of official negotiations with the parliamentary formations. The final meeting took place today, with unaffiliated parliamentarians. The discussions focused both on the structure of the future Executive and on the legislative projects and reforms that could be adopted.
Asked whether he was sure he would obtain the at least 233 votes needed for investiture, Niculescu said he was optimistic, but did not indicate a definitive governing formula. The prime minister-designate stated that, in the case of a technocratic Government, he already had a list of people who could be presented as early as the same day or on Wednesday.
Niculescu spoke favorably of Alexandru Nazare, but did not provide any other names and did not confirm that the people under consideration had agreed to take positions in the future Executive. He explained that announcing names before the negotiations were finalized would generate further political discussions.
