Designated Prime Minister Luca Niculescu is expected to submit the list of ministers and the Government Program to Parliament on Thursday, triggering the procedure for the investiture of the new Cabinet. The time when the documents will be submitted has not been officially announced.
PSD is the only party that will join the Government, after the National Political Council approved the party’s participation in the cabinet.
List of ministers proposed by PSD:
- Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Internal Affairs - Marian Neacșu
- Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development – Florin Barbu
- Minister of Health - Alexandru Rogobete
- Minister of Labour - Florin Manole
- Minister of Economy - Daniel Zamfir
- Minister of Justice - Radu Marinescu
- Minister of Development - Alexandru Stoica
- Minister of Transport - Ștefan Ovidiu Popa
- Minister of Environment - Natalia Intotero
- Minister of Investments and European Projects - Mihai Ghigiu
- Minister of Defence - Ștefan Radu Oprea
Among the priorities announced by the party are drafting the 2027 budget, controlling the deficit, indexing pensions, eliminating CASS for certain categories, and administrative reform.
PNL and UDMR have announced that they will vote to invest the Niculescu Government, in order to end the political deadlock. The Liberals are making their support conditional on continuing the commitments of the former cabinet led by Ilie Bolojan and are considering a bilateral political agreement with the designated prime minister. Meanwhile, USR President Dominic Fritz will propose that the party’s parliamentarians not vote for the Government and will continue to support early elections.
Romania is governed by a caretaker Government following the dismissal of the Bolojan cabinet on 5 May 2026. Three previous attempts to form a new Cabinet have failed. President Nicușor Dan warned that, in the event of another negative vote, the dissolution of Parliament and the organization of early elections could be considered.
