Dragos Pislaru, the Minister of Investments and European Projects, stated that the deadline of November 28 for the reform of special pensions for magistrates is fixed and cannot be renegotiated with the European Commission, as it is established by EU legislation. Romania must provide evidence of meeting this milestone, and the Commission will evaluate the efforts of the Government and Parliament. Pislaru emphasized that there is no possibility of postponing or flexibilizing the deadline, rejecting the local mentality of delaying things.

On November 28, Romania will send the Commission a letter with evidence of the adopted reform, and the minister believes that the state has a "serious case" to request a thorough analysis of the efforts made, including in the case of delays in promulgation. Pislaru mentioned that he hopes the promulgation of the law will take place during the Commission's analysis period, to avoid penalties. However, he warned that the efforts presented do not guarantee the recovery of the European funds of 231 million euros.
