Dragos Pîslaru, the interim Minister of Labor, warned that without the adoption of the salary law, Romania risks populist measures in the electoral year 2028, which would not have budgetary coverage. He emphasized that the amounts provided in the current project are the maximum that the country can afford. Pîslaru mentioned that two parties agree to support the project, acknowledging the necessary political responsibility to avoid unfounded promises.

The minister emphasized that the unions are mistaken by refusing to dialogue and that the adoption of a unified law would limit their negotiating capacity. Pîslaru concluded that the current salary increases are necessary to balance the inequities in the public system.

"This value that we have of almost half, of almost 6 billion lei, in the budget that we have now, only for the two occupational families – education and health – is the maximum that Romania can afford at this moment," Pîslaru stated.
