The archaeological research works on the route of the A8 highway, near the town of Târgu Neamț, have led to the discovery of a rare glass cup, dating from the Roman period (2nd-3rd centuries AD). The director of the Târgu Neamț History and Ethnography Museum, Vasile Diaconu, explained that this artifact was found in an archaeological complex associated with cremation funeral rituals.
The cup, with a honeycomb-type decoration, is considered a rarity, likely originating from a Roman workshop in Egypt. In eastern Romania, only one other similar piece is known, in Poiana, Galați County. The discoveries along the A8 route have enriched the archaeological heritage of the area, highlighting the intense trade during the Roman period. The efforts of the archaeological teams have led to significant results, including the restoration of this unique cup for the Neamț area.
