A remarkably well-preserved Byzantine town has been discovered by archaeologists in the western desert of Egypt.

Archaeologists found a town from the Byzantine period, dating back to the 4th century, in the Dakhla oasis. It includes residential and religious structures, such as a church, and provides details about daily life and economic activities during the Byzantine period. The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities highlighted the importance of the discovery, which includes north-south and east-west oriented streets, open squares, a basilica, and watchtowers.

Separately, in Marina el-Alamein, 18 ancient tombs have been discovered, including tombs carved into rock and limestone, with artifacts such as ceramic vessels and a granite sarcophagus. These discoveries contribute to the understanding of Egypt's history and the cultural influences from the Greco-Roman and Byzantine periods.
