The Municipality of Bucharest (PMB) has announced a new program aimed at rehabilitating buildings with degraded facades in the Historic Center and protected areas, with the goal of eliminating risks for passersby. In the first phase, PMB will create an inventory of these buildings and will notify the owners, offering them support in preparing the necessary documentation to obtain permits.

Owners will be able to choose to pay the full costs of the works or to request co-financing from the Municipality, and for those with low incomes, PMB will temporarily cover the expenses based on a social survey. The program excludes buildings classified as seismic risk class I, which must be reinforced before rehabilitation. Additionally, owners will benefit from tax exemptions and expedited approvals, and those who do not meet deadlines will be fined. Mayor Ciprian Ciucu emphasized the importance of this program for public safety and the revitalization of the historical appearance of the city.
