Romania has obtained the formal approval of the OECD Working Group, recognizing the capacity of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) to apply international standards in combating bribery in international economic operations. The assessment from October shows that Romania meets international requirements in preventing corruption involving foreign public officials. This result is due to the close collaboration between DNA and the Ministry of Justice, which has allowed for the implementation of OECD recommendations, including regarding human and financial resources.
According to the new legislation, DNA has exclusive competence in investigating bribery offered to foreign officials and related offenses. The OECD has highlighted the efficiency of DNA in conducting investigations and international cooperation, signaling Romania's commitment to strengthening integrity and fighting corruption at a global level.
