A quick analysis showed that between June 23 and July 2, Europe's extreme heat wave led to 2,300 deaths, of which 1,500 were attributed to climate change. The worst affected cities were Milan, Paris and Barcelona, with temperatures soaring by up to 4 degrees Celsius. The study found that June was the hottest month in Western Europe and heat-related deaths are not officially reported, making estimates more difficult.
