Liana Arsenie, the president of the Bucharest Court of Appeal, stated that there is a rigorous and cynical "mathematical plan" to take control of the judiciary by politics. She criticized the statements of President Nicușor Dan, who suggested that the judicial system is under pressure, saying that such declarations harm justice. Arsenie mentioned that, following complaints from magistrates about terror and intimidation, the president proposed a referendum to assess the representativeness of the CSM.
She emphasized that the executive power devours the legislative power and that there is a small group of magistrates who, upon a change of political power, demand changes in the judicial system. Arsenie highlighted the importance of balance among the three powers of the state and warned that political control over justice could erode the rule of law. She also requested a discussion with the president to clarify the impact of his statements on public trust in justice.
