The Bucharest Court of Appeal accuses the Executive led by Ilie Bolojan of trying to control the solutions of the courts.

Liana Arsenie, the president of the Bucharest Court of Appeal, accused Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan of trying to influence the activity of the courts.

In a public statement, Arsenie claimed that the recent interventions of the National Liberal Party and the Prime Minister indicate an intention to influence the decisions made in the cases pending before the courts. "Until now, we could only guess, we could speculate what the intended purpose might be (...), after the recent interventions of the National Liberal Party and the Prime Minister's interventions, it seems that the need to control the decisions in the cases brought to trial in the courts is becoming clear," she stated.

At the same time, the president of the Bucharest Court of Appeal stated that the Government has exceeded the limits of the rule of law and accused the use of public institutions for political purposes. "We are witnessing, as we have witnessed since the beginning of the Prime Minister's mandate, an unprecedented attack in post-December history against the judiciary," Arsenie said.

She also raised questions about the possibility of a dismissed government initiating certain actions and emphasized that judicial decisions are mandatory and must be respected, regardless of the position of the Executive.
