The Finance Ministry increases funding for energy reimbursements and the payment of benefits for people with disabilities

The Finance Ministry has increased the funds allocated for reimbursements to energy suppliers so that the compensation mechanism provided for by law can operate without disruptions and to recover accumulated delays. The measure comes as payments to companies have not been made at the necessary pace, putting pressure on their liquidity, financing and investments.

For September, the spending limit was updated to 1.03 billion lei. According to the Finance Ministry, legislation provides for an increase from 40% to 60% in the percentage of amounts reimbursed to suppliers upon submission of applications. In addition, the remaining 20% will be paid for applications for which only part of the amount had previously been paid.

The additional funding also includes 28.964 million lei for the National Authority for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The money will be used to pay transport benefits for intercity travel granted to people with severe or pronounced disabilities and to prevent the accumulation of penalties.

Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare said that the state must pay its obligations on time and avoid spending schemes that cannot be financed predictably. He stressed that reducing pressure on the resources available to the private sector is essential for investment, jobs and economic recovery.
