Alexandru Nazare approves 1.058 billion lei for energy payments and transport for people with disabilities

Interim Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare approved increasing the spending limit of the Ministry of Labour by 1.058 billion lei for September, to accelerate the payments provided for in the budget.

The largest share of the amount, 1.03 billion lei, is earmarked for reimbursements to energy suppliers under the scheme compensating electricity and natural gas consumption. Approximately 29 million lei will be used to pay transport benefits granted to people with disabilities.

Nazare said that the compensation scheme has the resources provided for in the budget, and that the measure adopted ensures the necessary room for a larger share of payments to be made in September. Reimbursements have fallen behind the volume of accumulated obligations because they require the amounts to be checked and validated, as well as the resources to be effectively scheduled.

The minister stressed that the Finance Ministry does not directly manage the reimbursements, but has supported legislative changes to make the mechanism more efficient. He warned that delays can affect suppliers’ liquidity, the financing of their operations and their investment capacity. Authorities are therefore seeking to make payments more predictable and sustainable.
