Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare reaffirmed, following a meeting with business representatives held at Victoria Palace, that financial stability and fiscal-budgetary discipline are the Government of Luca Niculescu’s main objectives. The official said predictability is the most important support the state can provide to companies.
Nazare said that no permanent expenditure and no new project would be launched without identifying a permanent source of funding. Fiscal consolidation is expected to help reduce financing costs, boost investor confidence and create resources for the development of the real economy.
The minister’s priorities include accelerating VAT refunds, reducing outstanding payments of medical leave benefits and paying investment invoices more quickly, including those financed through the NRRP and European funds.
The Finance Ministry is also pursuing the strengthening of the Investment and Development Bank, with €250 million earmarked for this year, as well as the development of financing instruments for SMEs and strategic projects. The Government is considering continuing, in 2027, the partial compensation of the excise duty on diesel used in commercial road transport and launching support schemes for local production, advanced technologies, critical raw materials, the defense industry and regional development.
