Cristian Tudor Popescu stated that he finds Cătălin Drulă unpleasant, claiming that he has observed his behavior since 2019 and that he has information about his leadership style, which he considers dictatorial. Popescu compared Drulă's leadership in USR to Ceaușescu's regime, arguing that the party has collapsed under his leadership, especially in the local elections.

He also dismissed the idea that Drulă would be a viable candidate for public office, mentioning that his term at the Ministry of Transport was not a successful one. In the context of the elections for the Capital City Hall, Popescu announced that he will vote for Ana Ciceală, although he is aware that she has no real chances of winning, considering his vote more of a principled one.
