Cristian Tudor Popescu argues that Luca Niculescu, President Nicușor Dan’s spokesperson, could not form a government under the current political configuration, amid the conditions imposed by the parliamentary parties.
Invited to analyze the situation, CTP said that Niculescu benefits from a distinct position compared with Ilie Bolojan, who was never the president’s spokesperson. According to the journalist, this gives the head of state a certain degree of political comfort.
“Luca Niculescu is President Nicușor Dan’s spokesperson, which Mr. Bolojan never was. From this point of view, Mr. Nicușor Dan feels very good,” Cristian Tudor Popescu said.
He noted that he respects Luca Niculescu’s career, but considers the formation of a governing majority to be nearly impossible. The PSD is making its support conditional on participating in government, while the AUR has announced that it will not vote for such an arrangement. At the same time, the PNL, USR and UDMR have incompatible positions regarding a possible alliance.
In CTP’s view, the deadlock could not be resolved even by a political figure such as Sorin Grindeanu, because the problem lies in the “initial conditions” and the lack of a formula acceptable to all parties.
