Luca Niculescu announced, after negotiations held at the UDMR headquarters, that several formulas for the future government are on the table: the formula proposed by PSD, a technocratic cabinet, and a hybrid formula. The negotiations aim to form a parliamentary majority.
Niculescu said he intends to continue discussions on Monday with USR and representatives of the Parliamentary Group of National Minorities. He specified that, at this time, negotiations with AUR and SOS Romania are not on the agenda.
UDMR representatives described the discussion as sincere and constructive and emphasized that the governing program is more important than participating in the executive. PNL and UDMR announced that they would vote for the Niculescu Government even if they do not become part of it.
PNL President Ilie Bolojan said that the liberals would not join a government alongside PSD and could move into opposition. The final decision, however, will depend on the cabinet’s composition and the governing program. PNL is expected to convene its National Political Bureau next week and could have another discussion with Niculescu.
