Cătălin Drulă received an unfavorable endorsement for the position of Minister of Transport, with 16 votes in favor and 18 against

Cătălin Drulă, nominated by USR for the position of transport minister in the government led by Siegfried Mureșan, received an unfavorable endorsement from the parliamentary committees. The vote ended with 16 votes in favor and 18 against.

After the hearing, Drulă said the procedure was standard, but the time allocated for discussions was too short. He argued that a ministerial hearing should last two to three hours and be based on a genuine exchange of questions and answers, following the model of the U.S. Congress.

The USR candidate said his main priority would be for the Ministry of Transport to provide efficient services at fair prices. In this context, he criticized the situation of several companies subordinate to the ministry, such as Metrorex, CFR Călători and TAROM, citing losses, subsidies and high costs.

Drulă accused the existence of “state capture” and argued that some public companies are controlled by party structures. He said a minister’s objective should be to reclaim the institutions and ensure that they operate in the public interest. The committees’ endorsement is advisory, while the final decision on the appointment belongs to Parliament.
