Traian Preoteasa, the general director of CFR Călători, announced that train tickets will increase by 4.6% starting December 14, as a result of indexing with the inflation rate. This is the second increase this year, after prices previously rose due to the increase in VAT. Additionally, the new train schedule will include approximately 1,150 daily trains, of which 52 on international routes and 20 Intercity.
Among the new features of the program are direct connections between Bucharest and Budapest, as well as routes to Vienna. Ticket prices will vary; for example, an Interregio ticket on the Bucharest-Brașov route will cost 75 lei, while for Bucharest-Constanța, the price will be 93 lei in second class. CFR Călători plans to introduce more trains on popular routes, depending on the delivery of new rolling stock from Alstom.
