An historic moment for the Romanian railway was marked by the delivery of the first 5 regional electric trains PESA to CFR Călători.
These modern trains, awaited by Romanian passengers, will operate on the routes Bucharest North – Brașov and Bucharest North – Obor – Fetești – Constanța. The collaboration between the Ministry of Transport, the Railway Reform Authority, and the manufacturer PESA has led to the resolution of the situation regarding these trains, which had remained unused for months. An additional act signed protects the interests of the Romanian state and allows the introduction of the trains into circulation, suspending maintenance payments until the contractual obligations are fulfilled.
The new trains offer a maximum speed of 160 km/h, a capacity of 465 passengers, air conditioning, Wi-Fi internet, and accessibility for people with reduced mobility. Next week, other trains will be delivered to the private operator Transferoviar Călători, and the modernization of railway transport in Romania continues with the delivery of interregional trains. This initiative represents an important step in modernizing the railways, bringing new trains to European standards.
