The mayor of Brașov, George Scripcaru, announced that starting this year, the city hall will no longer organize fireworks on New Year's Eve, considering the negative impact on pets.

Fireworks cause fear and severe stress, and the loud noises can cause animals to flee, get lost, or get injured. Additionally, the chemicals in fireworks contribute to environmental pollution.

The mayor appeals to citizens to avoid purchasing fireworks, emphasizing that other cities, such as Cluj-Napoca and Iași, have adopted similar measures. Scripcaru hopes that this decision will inspire other Brașov residents to find alternative ways to celebrate the New Year's Eve without affecting the well-being of animals.
