The mayor of Iași, Mihai Chirica, announced that the city will rationalize electricity, turning off street and architectural lighting after 24:00, in response to the critical situation in the energy sector.

This measure will generate savings of approximately 10 MWh per night. The decision was made in the context of the national state of alert established by the Government due to the decrease in electricity production caused by drought. Lighting will be maintained in essential areas for safety, such as hospitals and pedestrian passages. Mihai Chirica emphasized that the measure applies uniformly, without favoritism between neighborhoods, and requested an increase in police patrols to ensure the safety of citizens.

Additionally, the city of Tecuci has adopted similar measures, reducing public lighting. These actions are part of efforts to respond to current energy challenges.
