Training Ship Mircea returns to Constanța after five months and 14,000 nautical miles

Training Ship Mircea will return on Wednesday, September 16, to Constanța Military Port, following a five-month transatlantic voyage to the United States of America. The sailing ship covered approximately 14,000 nautical miles and made port calls in 15 ports.

On board were second-year military students from the “Mircea cel Bătrân” Naval Academy, as well as 19 foreign students from naval academies in ten partner countries. The voyage served both a training purpose and a role in international representation.

During the more than 150 days at sea, the crew and students took part in maritime training activities and events organized in the ports of call. The symbol ship of Romania’s naval school also participated in ceremonies marking the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America.

The route included ports in Italy, Spain, Portugal, the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, Tunisia, Greece and Turkey. Training Ship Mircea departed from Constanța Port on April 16, marking the sailing ship’s fourth transatlantic voyage to the United States.
