Sorana Cîrstea, Romanian tennis player, ranked 51st in the WTA, was eliminated on Saturday in the semifinals of the WTA 250 tournament in Osaka, with total prizes of $275,094. Cîrstea, at the age of 35, was defeated by the 4th seed, Leylah Fernandez from Canada, ranked 27th in the WTA, with a score of 6-1, 2-6, 6-4. Although she led 3-1 in the deciding set, Sorana was unable to maintain the advantage and was defeated after a match lasting one hour and 55 minutes. As a reward for her performance, Cîrstea will receive $11,970 and 98 WTA points. On the same day, Jaqueline Cristian, ranked 47th in the WTA, was set to play in the semifinals against the Czech Tereza Valentova, ranked 78th in the WTA.
