The Senate has adopted a bill that offers parents a day off at the beginning of the school year.

The draft law initiated by PSD senator Claudiu Cătană, which provides for granting a day off to parents at the beginning of the school year, has been tacitly adopted by the Senate and will be sent to the Chamber of Deputies. The initiators emphasize the importance of parents' presence at the opening ceremony of the school year, an emotional moment for both children and parents. They often face questions and fears related to their children's adaptation to the new environment. Although the first day of school coincides with a working day, many parents find themselves needing to take a day off from their vacation or to request leave from work, sometimes encountering difficulties from employers. The legislative proposal suggests that the first day of the school year for preschool, primary, and secondary education can be granted, upon request, as a day off.
