Sorana Cîrstea, ranked 45th in the WTA and seeded 7th, was eliminated on Friday in the quarterfinals of the WTA 250 Hong Kong Open by Canadian athlete Leylah Fernandez, seeded 2nd. The match ended with a score of 6-4, 6-4, after one hour and 44 minutes of play. The two players recently met in the semifinals in Osaka, where Fernandez won again. Following her performance at the Hong Kong Open, Cîrstea earned $6,815 and 54 WTA points.
