Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, announced in La Paz that Bolivia will host a World Cup, a promise made on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Bolivian Football Federation. Although he did not provide details about the date or type of competition, Infantino emphasized the importance of this event. The issue of organizing international matches in Bolivia is recurring, with neighbors Brazil and Argentina considering themselves disadvantaged by the extreme altitude conditions. Bolivia has stadiums located at high altitudes, which makes it difficult for foreign teams to play.
Although Infantino's support is significant, the final decision will be made by the over 200 members of FIFA. In the past, FIFA banned international matches at altitudes over 2,500 meters, but reversed this decision in 2008. Infantino mentioned that he will discuss the organization of the competition with Bolivia's newly elected president, Rodrigo Paz.
