Social Democratic Party (PSD) MP Alexandru Rogobete, a former health minister, is asking interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan to urgently allocate money from the Reserve Fund to the Ministry of Health and the National Health Insurance House. He warns that hospitals, emergency departments and ambulance services risk collapsing due to a lack of funding.

Rogobete said on Wednesday that several hospitals have enough medical supplies only until the end of the month, while 17 county ambulance services have reportedly run out of funds for fuel. According to the MP, the situation is particularly affecting the treatment of critically ill patients, including those suffering strokes, myocardial infarctions, multiple trauma injuries and severe burns.

A particular situation reportedly exists at the “C.C. Iliescu” Institute in Bucharest. Rogobete claims that the facility has not received funding for September for cardiac surgery programs and other specific procedures and that, starting Friday, it could suspend elective interventions, treating only emergencies until supplies run out.

The MP believes that a rapid allocation from the Reserve Fund is the only solution to the immediate crisis, as a budget revision could take at least a week, leaving hospitals no time to order and receive the necessary supplies. Rogobete says that the Ministry of Health has not provided a response in the past two weeks.
