A few days earlier, Alexandru Rogobete warned that the medical sector needed approximately 11.5 billion lei to pay outstanding bills and close out the year, stating that there were unpaid bills dating back to July, especially in the area managed by the National Health Insurance House (CNAS). He said that, of this total, the Ministry of Health was requesting 1.2 billion lei, with the remainder to be allocated to CNAS, and that the situation had affected programs such as those for oncology, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, amid the resignation of Horațiu Moldovan from the leadership of CNAS.
Earlier as well, Rogobete asked the Government for emergency allocations from the Reserve Fund, arguing that hospitals and ambulance services risked collapsing: some had allegedly been left with medical supplies only until the end of the month, while 17 county ambulance services had allegedly been left without funds for fuel. He also mentioned specific cases, including the warning concerning the “C.C. Iliescu” Institute in Bucharest, where elective surgeries were expected to be suspended in order to treat only emergencies until supplies ran out.
