FIFA announced that it reported over 30,000 abusive posts on social media platforms this year, according to a report cited by the BBC. The governing body of world football identified 11 individuals who have been reported to the authorities, and one case has been sent to Interpol. These individuals were from Argentina, Brazil, France, Poland, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the USA, being involved in abuses during FIFA competitions. FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasized the importance of creating a safe and inclusive space in football, both on the field and online. FIFA uses a social media protection service (SMPS) to monitor and block abusive content, noting that during the recent tournament in the USA, SMPS analyzed 5.9 million posts, reporting 20,587 to social media platforms. Infantino reaffirmed FIFA's commitment to working with authorities to combat abuses in football.
