Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, praised the organization of the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, which concluded on July 19 with Spain's victory over Argentina. In a lengthy Instagram post, Infantino highlighted the collaboration between the three countries and emphasized that the tournament celebrated humanity, ensuring that all participants were safe.
He also addressed the criticisms received, especially from journalists, accusing them of spreading hatred and false rumors. Infantino mentioned that the press ignored most of the approved visas and criticized the refereeing decisions, stating that these are accepted in major leagues. He also brought up the situation of the Haiti team, which was forced to change its jersey for political reasons. Infantino avoided mentioning the entry refusal of Somali referee Omar Artan, who was supposed to participate in the tournament.
