The FRF Disciplinary Commission imposed severe sanctions in the case of CS Vulturii Fărcășești, with a total of 171 months of suspensions and fines of approximately 375,000 euros, following a scandal of alleged match-fixing. The club's president, Robert Mihai Dumitru, received a two-year suspension and a fine of 200,000 lei, contesting the decision and claiming that he was on vacation in Turkey at the time the accusations were made. Dumitru asserts that he had no connection to the betting and that the sanctioned players are innocent. He announced that he would appeal and, if necessary, would turn to TAS.
"These are drastic sanctions that have no relevance or basis. There are things there that totally exceed us. I was sanctioned for supposedly having a betting account, which I have never had. I don't even know why I was suspended. One of the players (note: Constantin Roncea) accused me of giving instructions from the stands, but I submitted the plane ticket and proof that I was on vacation, in Turkey, at the time he said I was giving instructions from the stands during the match. Similarly, when he said I gave instructions from the stands during the match with Petroșani, he wasn't even at that match. He was injured and wasn't even in the stands," said the president of Vulturii Fărcășești, Mihai Robert Dumitru.
