The Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe club announced on Friday that player Cosmin Matei, the team captain, has been suspended for nine months by the Sports Arbitration Tribunal (TAS).

Of the nine-month suspension, one month has already been served.

The decision comes after Cosmin Matei was initially suspended for six months by the National Anti-Doping Agency, but later the Appeals Commission lifted the sanction, allowing him to continue his competitive activity. However, the Appeals Commission's decision was contested by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), and TAS accepted the appeal and issued a final ruling.
