The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has suspended 147 officials for 45 days after they were found guilty of violating sports betting rules. The sanctions were imposed following a disciplinary investigation conducted in October.

The 147 officials, including Ertugrul Dogan, president of SüperLig club Trabzonspor, are not allowed to carry out their football-related duties during the suspension.

In total, 448 officials were referred to the disciplinary committee. In the other 301 cases, the body imposed no sanctions, considering that there was insufficient evidence to prove a breach of the regulations.

The Turkish Federation has stepped up its checks on sports betting following the scandal that affected football in Turkey last year. As part of the same wide-ranging investigation, the TFF suspended 149 referees and 1,024 players for varying periods, depending on the seriousness of the violations established.
