The prosecutors of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bucharest Sector 6 Court have sent Bogdan Vasiliu, former team manager of the women's handball section of CS Rapid Bucharest, to trial for embezzlement in continuous form and forgery, during the period May – November 2021.
Vasiliu is accused of having embezzled 106,452 lei from the funds intended for rewarding the players, justifying the payments with falsified reward statements. Additionally, he was previously detained for bribery and abuse of office, being accused of having requested 200,000 euros from a businessman to facilitate the awarding of rental contracts for the club's canteen and restaurant.
From the requested amount, Vasiliu is said to have already received 30,000 euros and 348,103 lei through the accounts of a company controlled by him. Furthermore, the defendant Marian Florin Radu, transport manager, is accused of complicity in these crimes. The prosecutors detailed how these acts were carried out, including the preparation of fictitious situations for the reimbursement of funds from the club.
