CFR Cluj had until Wednesday to pay 1.5 million euros to ANAF, but failed to do so, putting the team at risk of exclusion from European competitions. Ioan Varga, the club's owner, stated that he discussed with UEFA and managed to postpone the payment of debts until Tuesday, July 21.
The team has already been sanctioned by UEFA with a fine of 200,000 euros due to previous debts and is under supervision, being required to pay all outstanding amounts.
UEFA warned that, due to recidivism and outstanding debts, CFR Cluj risks exclusion from European competitions, a sanction suspended for a probation period of two seasons.
