Marius Șumudică, unhappy after the defeat to UTA, is considering leaving CFR Cluj

Marius Șumudică is considering leaving CFR Cluj after the defeat to UTA, by a score of 0–1, in the 12th round of the SuperLiga. The coach is unhappy with the team’s attitude and the conditions in which he works, and announced that this week he will have decisive discussions with the players and the club’s management.

The coach believes that CFR Cluj is going through a very difficult period, due to the lack of cohesion, the adaptation of the new players, and the problems caused by insolvency. Șumudică criticized the lack of aggression and involvement in the match against UTA and said that he cannot accept such a performance.

“Everything has a limit. If the management’s expectations are different from what I currently believe, then there is no point in continuing,” the coach declared.

Șumudică took over the team when it was in 14th place, with three points, and CFR has reached 13 points. Despite the dissatisfaction, financier Ioan Varga maintains that he still has confidence in the coach and promises important signings during the winter break.

Înainte de discuțiile decisive anunțate de Marius Șumudică, CFR Cluj a anunțat despărțirea de antrenorul Antonio Folha, după o înfrângere severă cu 0-5 în turul trei preliminar al Conference League, cu Tromso. Patronul Ioan Varga a vorbit atunci despre o injectare de 5 milioane de euro pentru acoperirea datoriilor, care ar fi putut facilita numirea lui Șumudică.

Ulterior, noul președinte al clubului, Hendrik Klein, a declarat că nu intenționează să schimbe antrenorul și că va colabora cu Șumudică și directorul sportiv, lăsându-le libertatea de a decide partea sportivă. În aceeași perioadă, Damjan Djokovic a reziliat unilateral contractul cu CFR Cluj, invocând notificări legate de neplata mai multor salarii.
