Hendrik Klein accuses CFR Cluj of not paying his salary: “They saw me as an ATM”

Swiss businessman Hendrik Klein, brought in by Neluțu Varga to identify investors for CFR Cluj, has made accusations against the club’s management. In a statement quoted by GSP, Klein claims he was repeatedly asked for money, even though his mission was to help find solutions to the team’s difficult financial situation.

Klein says that, at one meeting, club officials allegedly asked him for €80,000. The Swiss businessman says he refused to pay, arguing that clear documents and a well-structured plan were needed first. According to him, people at the club treated him “like an ATM.”

The businessman also claims that he paid his own accommodation, transportation and meal expenses and that he was not remunerated by CFR Cluj. Klein says he proposed that judicial administrator Răzvan Zăvăleanu be appointed president, for a monthly salary of €5,000, but the proposal was allegedly rejected. He says the only things he received from the club were pizza, coffee and water.

Răzvan Zăvăleanu was also the club’s judicial administrator during its previous insolvency proceedings. CFR Cluj’s total debts are estimated at approximately €37.5 million, half of which represent claims held by majority shareholder Neluțu Varga.
