Csikszereda dismissed its coach after the team earned only one point in ten rounds

FK Csikszereda and head coach Istvan Szabo have mutually agreed to end their collaboration, the Miercurea Ciuc club announced Thursday on its official Facebook page. The decision comes after a poor start to the season, in which the Harghita-based team collected just one point in the first 10 rounds of the SuperLiga.

The 59-year-old Hungarian coach took charge of the team this summer. During his tenure, FK Csikszereda played 10 league matches and two games in the Romanian Cup. The team currently occupies last place in the SuperLiga, 16th position.

During his career, Szabo also coached teams such as Cegledi VSE, Tiszakecskei LC, FC Dabas, Kecskemeti TE and Nyiregyhaza Spartacus. He is the second SuperLiga coach to leave a team this week, after Croatian Stjepan Tomas, whose contract with Oțelul Galați was terminated. The Miercurea Ciuc club has not yet announced Istvan Szabo’s successor.
