The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, has signed a decree through which five individuals, aged between 30 and 53, have been stripped of their Moldovan citizenship for enrolling in the Russian troops illegally stationed in the separatist region of Transnistria. The decree came into effect immediately after signing and can be challenged in court.
This is not the first such measure; in August, another five individuals were deprived of citizenship for the same reasons, aged between 39 and 41. The process of revoking citizenship was initiated by the Public Services Agency (ASP) following a report from the Information and Security Service (SIS), which confirmed that they had voluntarily enrolled in the Russian armed forces. Igor Zaharov, an advisor to the president, emphasized that their actions constitute a violation of the law.
