In a tourist complex in Serbia, participants in a program organized by Russian agents were trained in violence techniques, including how to break through police cordons and use automatic weapons, with the aim of influencing the elections in the Republic of Moldova.
This campaign is part of a broader strategy by the Kremlin to destabilize the West, with Moldova playing a crucial role. The Russians have heavily invested in recruiting pro-Russian Moldovans, including through payments to Orthodox priests to spread propaganda. Additionally, Ilan Șor's agents have run a vote-buying scheme, recruiting over 150,000 Moldovans.
Despite Russia's efforts, the 2025 elections were won by Maia Sandu's pro-European party, but the Kremlin continues to expand its influence through cyberattacks and disinformation. Moldovan authorities have managed to counter some of these actions, but the challenges remain significant.
